La Plata County Weed Management Office in a New Location
The La Plata County Weed Management Office has moved to the La Plata County Courthouse located at 1060 E 2nd Avenue, Durango. Rod Cook, County Weed Manager, has his office in the Building Department, located in the northeast side of the Courthouse basement. The Weed Mapping Technicians have moved to the GIS office, located on the northwest side of the ground level in the Courthouse. Read more »
Spring E-Recycling Event May 18 & 19
The Durango Spring 2012 Electronics Recycling Event will take place on Friday May 18th and Saturday May 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the City of Durango Recycling Center, located at 710 Tech Center Drive.
Business are asked to make an appointment and bring items to the event on Friday.
The Durango Recycling Center will be closed for normal operation on Friday, May 18th. The Recycling Center drop-off location will remain open both days. Read more »
"On The Road" County Commissioner's Meeting
The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will continue a series of “On the Road” meetings and invites the public to join them to discuss issues of interest or concern regarding La Plata County. “We look forward to meeting with as many people as possible in an informal setting to hear what’s on people’s minds,” said Commissioner Bobby Lieb, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. The Board will hold its next community meeting on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bayfield Town Hall, located at 1199 Bayfield Parkway in Bayfield. Read more »

County to Proceed with Medical Marijuana Regulatory Efforts
After receiving information from La Plata County's insurance provider and thoroughly reviewing and clarifying La Plata County’s liability coverage and potential liability exposure with respect to its regulatory activities related to medical marijuana, La Plata County Attorney Sheryl Rogers today recommended to the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners that the County should proceed with its medical marijuana regulatory efforts rather than to consider a ban on medical marijuana cultivation and infused-product manufacturing facilities.
