TRANSFER STATIONS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. YARD WASTE IS ALSO CLOSED.

There is a City of Durango Transfer Station and the Bondad Landfill available for solid waste disposal.
City of Durango Transfer Station is located at the Durango Tech Center and Bondad Landfill is located off County Road 318.

Information for the Bayfield and Marvel Transfer Stations

General Information
The yard waste is open at the Bayfield Transfer Station. There is no yard waste at Marvel Transfer Station. La Plata County does not offer trash pick up services. The transfer stations are for residential waste. Please keep your loads at an appropriate size and take large loads directly to the landfill. Dumptrailers are not accepted at either location, but regular trailers are accepted. Please take heavy construction debris to the landfill instead of the transfer stations.

Household Refuse $17.38 per cubic yard
Household Waste, loose trash $4.34 minimum
Light Construction Debris $26.07 per cubic yard
Mattresses and Box Springs $28.96 per item
Yard Waste $8 per load
La Plata County Transfer Station fees are adopted by resolution of the Board of County Commissioners, Resolution #2023-10, effective March 29, 2023.

Transfer Stations Address
Bayfield Transfer Station is located at 4496 CR 223, about halfway between Durango and Bayfield.
Marvel Transfer Station is located at 1765 CR 134, approximately 2 miles south of the intersections with CR 100 south of Marvel.

Items not accepted:
Furniture; inert materials such as dirt, rock, concrete and asphalt; tires; ash; biological waste; animals and human remains; medical waste; electronics; contaminated soil; fluorescent bulbs; exploration and production waste; asbestos-containing materials; recreational vehicles; mobile homes or trailer houses; waste pharmaceuticals; explosives; ammunitions; hazardous waste; liquid waste; motorized equipment waste; pesticides/herbicides/insecticides; ozone-depleting compounds (i.e. freon from refrigerants); radioactive waste; paints; stains; and motor oil.
Heavy construction debris and concrete must be taken to the landfill.
