Repair Request Form share Instagram link Twitter link Facebook link ROAD REPAIR REQUEST FORM The La Plata County Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of 653 miles of county roads, which includes 222 miles of paved and 433 miles of gravel roads. Some of the typical services provided include winter and summer road maintenance, maintenance of drainage facilities and structures, roadside mowing, sign installation and maintenance, and annual striping of roads. Please note La Plata County is not responsible for roads that are private, within the city limits of Durango, Bayfield or Ignacio or State Highways.Grading and applying Mag Chloride to County Roads:Please be aware that grading can change daily depending on weather, priorities, flooding, fire, water, equipment & personnel availability. This schedule is tentative and is updated weekly. Under normal conditions grading usually takes 1 day per 2 miles of gravel road. During the summer months all districts grade by order of road aka. 300, 301, 302 etc. The order can change depending on priority. Please be patient as we have about 431 miles of gravel roads to grade. When graded please drive slowly to extend the life of the grade work. Thank you! ______________________________________________________________________________________________La Plata County to conduct asphalt overlay projects Monday-Monday, September 18-25: Asphalt overlay CR 124 from end of 2022 project South for .5 mile. Tuesday-Monday, September 26-October 2: Asphalt overlay CR 521 from end of 2022 project South for .5 mile. Tuesday-Thursday, October 3-5: Asphalt overlay CR 214 Regular working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Traffic will be reduced to one lane while work is in progress and a pilot car will be used to safely guide vehicles through the work zone. Delays of up to 20 minutes should be anticipated; however, every attempt will be made to minimize traffic delays during peak morning and afternoon commuting hours. Motorists are encouraged to allow a little extra travel time for their commute and to drive with caution through the work zone, for their own safety and the safety of the work crews. *Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could cause a delay of scheduled completion dates. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Month-long work to begin on County Road 501 The La Plata County Road & Bridge department will conduct a mill and overlay (resurfacing) project on County Road 501 near Vallecito Reservoir from Monday, Oct. 2 through approximately Friday, Nov. 3 The project will involve resurfacing the last 3.4 miles of paved road, from mile marker 16.2 north of the marina at Vallecito to mile marker 19.6 at the end of pavement by the Wits End Trout House. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a pilot car for much of the work. Regular working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
