The Finance Department is committed to promoting sound fiscal leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance, manage the County’s finance and accounting processes to ensure the proper stewardship of taxpayer funds, safeguarding of assets, and providing timely and accurate delivery of information to internal and external customers.

Finance Department Documents & Reports:

The Finance Department provides a variety of administrative and technical support to all offices and departments of County government.

  • The Finance Department prepares monthly financial reporting, prepare and administer the county budget, process accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll administration, financial planning, financial monitoring, capital assets recording and monitoring,  debt administration, grant accounting and reporting, customer service to vendors, internal departments and employees, and prepare external financial reporting including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  La Plata County is proud to have been awarded the prestigious National Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for years 1989-2020, evidencing our high level of commitment, professionalism and accountability to our citizens. Only 14% of the 3,000 counties nationwide earn the award.

  • The Procurement Division is responsible for the procurement of supplies, services, and construction in accordance with the Procurement Code, as well as the disposal of supplies and equipment for all County departments and offices.  The Procurement Code is Appendix B of the La Plata County Code.
