Trash

Yard waste is open.  Please note the transfer stations are experiencing high volumes of trash and will shut down when the bins are full. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please note that if the trash bins are full, trash will not be accepted.

Do you need trash service?

There are several options depending on where you live for trash services. The City of Durango offers curbside pickup for trash and recycling for a fee if you live within City limits. For those who live outside of City limits, there are private haulers. La Plata County Government does not provide trash services to individuals, but offers Transfer Station locations in Bayfield and Marvel for trash drop off. Trailer loads are acceptable at the Transfer Stations.

For information regarding the Transfer Stations, please call 970-382-6376 or for automated information please call 970-382-6377.

The Bayfield Transfer Station is located at 4496 CR 223, about halfway between Durango and Bayfield off US Highway 160. The Marvel Transfer Station is located at 1765 CR 134, approximately 2 miles south of the intersection with CR 100 south of Marvel.
