COVID-19 Information

Gov. Jared Polis has modified the mandatory Stay at Home order to "Safer at Home" order, amended on May 8.  La Plata County is currently under a "Safer La Plata" order put in place by San Juan Basin Public Health District.

Here are a few important elements of these orders:
  • Grocery, liquor, and marijuana stores remain open
  • Restaurants can remain open for takeout and delivery
  • Construction services can continue
  •  Roads will not close
  • You can exercise outside in a socially distanced manner, however playgrounds and picnic areas are still closed and it's recommended by the Governor that you recreate within 10 miles of your home
  • You can seek medical care and supplies
  • The National Guard is not deployed to enforce this order
  • Effective May 8, 2020, many non-critical retail businesses, and personal services may open with limitations, as long as they meet the requirements of PHO 20-24 and PHO 20-28 as long as they self-certify to San Juan Basin Health Department that they have read and will comply with all requirements applicable to their type of workplace.  Details can be found on the San Juan Basin Public Health's website.
