Bayfield Convenience Center - Free mulch loading - Wednesday June 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Bayfield Convenience Center accepts dry, brown yard waste such as tree trimmings, slash, and tree trunks. These materials are periodically mulched and offered to residents free of charge.  Traditionally, residents are required to load the free mulch into their vehicles. However, on Wednesday, June 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. La Plata County staff will be on-site with heavy equipment to load vehicles and trailers with wood mulch.

The Bayfield Convenience Center is located at 4496 County Road 223, Bayfield. The transfer station will be closed and not accepting waste during the free mulch-loading.

For safety, residents are required to remain in their vehicles at all times in the loading and staging area and vehicles must be in park while the equipment operator is maneuvering around the vehicle and loading mulch.  Space is provided after the mulch loading area to cover the mulch load for transport.
