Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event 2020

The City of Durango and La Plata County are partnering to host a household hazardous waste event in 2020. The event will take place at the La Plata County Fairgrounds located at 2500 Main Ave. on September 19th 2020 from 8 AM - 1 PM.

Commercial waste will be accepted on September 18th by appointment only. No commercial waste will be accepted on September 19th. Local businesses can click here to make an appointment or call (970)764-5796 for more information.

Accepted materials include:

Cleaning products
Gardening supplies
Paint
Automotive fluids
Propane tanks
Batteries

Biowaste, explosives, radioactive waste, large electronics and items containing Freon will not be accepted.

In 2016, the City of Durango - La Plata County Household Hazardous Waste Event resulted in the diversion of over 28,000 lbs of hazardous waste from landfill.
