Courthouse Security
The La Plata County Sheriff's Office is responsible for courthouse security. Full time deputies are assigned to the courthouse to ensure the safety of the occupants and the courts. We look forward to the expansion of the courthouse to include the nations first combined Federal/District/County Court.
Citizens are encouraged to leave knives, weapons or explosives of any kind before attempting to enter the Courthouse. Cell phones must be shut off before entering the courtrooms.
