Absinth wormwood is a member of the Sunflower family. It is a robust perennial that grows 16 to 48 inches tall with large leaves which are oblong in shape. Stems arise from a taproot and branch from the base. Stems are1/2 -inch in diameter or greater and reddish in color. The leaves have asage scent to them. Flowering occurs in the fall. It is frequently found near streams, lakes or irrigation ditches.
