Durango Hills Road Improvement District
The Durango Hills Road Improvement District (DHRID) Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity and makes recommendations to the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners concerning the annual district budget, work plan and mill levy. The Committee shall also be responsible to coordinate and oversee road maintenance and improvement activities and snow removal for those roads within the Durango Hills Road Improvement District specified in Resolution No. 1997-21. Road maintenance for these roads is not provided by La Plata County Road & Bridge.

The below map depicts both the district's boundaries and the level of maintenance expectation appropriate for each section of road. Per Resolution 1997-21, roads outlined in blue are "[t]he roads to be improved and maintained by the District...". Roads outlined in green "may be improved and maintained with any residual funds of the District, as deemed appropriate by the District Advisory Board."
