Water Lab
La Plata County Public Health's Water Lab provides water testing for residents of Southwest Colorado. Water bacteriology testing determines the absence or presence of Total Coliform and EColi bacteria. The Water Lab also provides wastewater testing for public wastewater systems.

Samples are accepted Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 4 pm. Samples are not accepted on Fridays.

The Surface and Drinking Water Program provides a number of opportunities for free testing of drinking water for various contaminants. Read about opportunities you might be eligible for. The program also monitors surface water conditions to protect river users and LPCPH operates a Water Laboratory for public and private water sources to test for bacteria and basic chemistry at cost.
