Changes to a Liquor License

Each liquor license is unique to the owner, premises and type of license. Prior to making any changes or alterations* to any of these, the owner must receive written approval from both the La Plata County and the Colorado Department of Revenue by submitting a Permit Application and Report of Changes DR8442. If you have any questions about the process of making a change to your existing license, please contact La Plata County licensing staff by email or call (970) 382-6252

*To “alter” means:
"any increase or decrease in the capacity of the establishment; moving, adding or increasing the size of the bar; or sealing off, creating, or relocating doors or passages." In other words, a licensee may not change or modify the premises in such a way that would affect the basic character or physical structure as it was previously approved, unless new approval is obtained.
