Notice of Final Boundary of Southwest La Plata Library District

A Petition for Organization of the Southwest La Plata Library District, County of La Plata, State of Colorado, was filed with the Board of County Commissioners to organize a library district under section 24-90-107, Colorado Revised Statutes in the County of La Plata, Colorado.

If formed, the Library District’s legal service area will consist of all of La Plata County Voting Precinct 11; all of La Plata County Voting Precinct 29 within the Southern Ute Indian Reservation except the subdivision known as "Trappers Crossing at Durango"; all of La Plata County Voting Precinct 21; portions of voting precincts 32, 29, and 22 that are included in the Sunnyside Elementary School attendance area, but outside of the Durango City Limits; and additional area within voting precinct 32 south of County Road 220, west of Highway 172 and west of County Road 307.  A final map of the proposed boundary is hereby posted.

The library district will request a mill levy of 1.5, through a coordinated election with La Plata County on November 5, 2019. The proposed mill levy must be approved by the eligible electors within the proposed library district.  The Board of County Commissioners' Resolution 2019-25 adopted on September 5, 2019 contains the ballot language.

The public hearing on the formation of a library district will occur on September 20, 2019  at 10:00 a.m. at 1101 E. 2nd Ave, Durango, CO 81301 at which time and place any interested parties may appear, if they so desire, within the limitation provided by law.
