Public Workshops La Plata County's Oil and Gas Code

The La Plata County Natural Resources Team has completed proposed technical revisions to Chapter 90 of La Plata County’s Land Use Code which outlines the County’s regulations regarding the development of oil and natural gas resources in La Plata County.  The revisions are designed to address technical issues that were identified through the process of implementing the new Chapter 90 code, as adopted by the Board of County Commissioners effective January 1, 2009.

The Natural Resources Team will be hosting two public workshops to facilitate discussions on the technical revisions to the County’s oil and gas code.  They are scheduled on Monday, March 1, 2010 in the Anasazi Room at the La Plata County Courthouse.  One workshop will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and one will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

A redline version of Chapter 90 and a memo with a summary of the proposed changes and the purpose of the proposed changes are available on the County's home page at http://www.co.laplata.co.us under the “Headlines” section. Written public comments on the technical revisions are invited and will be taken until Friday, March 5, 2010.  Please address comments to the Natural Resources Team at 1060 E. The Natural Resources Team will consider the public comments and revise current draft as appropriate.  The revised draft will then be presented to the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners through the normal public hearing process.
