Notice of Public Comment-Primary Election as Mail in Ballot

The Colorado General Assembly enacted legislation which allows each Colorado county to conduct the Primary Election by mail ballot. Mail ballot elections are cost-efficient, increase voter participation, removes barriers that could prevent people from getting to the polling locations and allows more time to study issues and candidates.

Before a determination is made to conduct the Primary Election by mail, the

La Plata County Clerk and Recorder will seek public comment at the Board of County Commissioners regular business meeting on March 16, 2010, beginning at 10 a.m. Comments may be submitted in writing or by attending the public hearing. All comments will be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration.

Notice is hereby given that the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder will receive written public comment from March 1, 2010 through March 15, 2010. Submit comments in favor of or opposed to a Primary Election conducted by mail ballot by one of the following means:

La Plata County Clerk & Recorder
1060 E. 2nd Ave., # 134
Durango, CO  81301
