Fire Code Adoption Meeting

PUBLIC NOTICE 

Notice is hereby given that the La Plata County Fire Code Adoption and Revision Commission (“FCARC”) will meet at 5 PM on February 2, 2010 at the Anasazi Room at the Court House, 1060 East Second Avenue.   The FCARC is currently hosting a series of public work session to consider the adoption of the 2003 International Fire Code.  The Agenda for the February 2, 2010 meeting is attached below.

La Plata County and the four fire departments – Upper Pine River Fire Protection District, Los Pinos Fire Protection District, Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Protection District, and Durango Fire & Rescue Authority – collectively agree that our community will be best served by adopting a “county-wide” fire code applicable to the entire unincorporated portions of the county.  Further, the adoption of the 2003 International Fire Code will be a substantial change from the 1985 Uniform Fire Code currently applicable in only parts of the county.  The general public is encouraged to take notice of these proposed changes and to participate by giving comment at the aforementioned public meetings.
