Grandview Sub-Area Plan

La Plata County working in conjunction with the City of Durango has hired Clarion and Associates to assist with the development of a Sub-Area Plan for the Grandview Area. An Advisory Committee has been selected and the first meeting of those members was held  Tuesday, August 30th, 2011.

The goal of the Grandview Sub-Area Plan is to identify a path forward for La Plata County, the City of Durango, and all stakeholders for:

•  Areas that may be removed from the City of Durango and La Plata County's joint planning area*.
         
  These areas are currently under the jurisdiction of an intergovernmental agreement; and

• Areas that are within reasonable proximity to land within the joint planning area, but are currently not governed by the inter-governmental agreement between the City of Durango and La Plata County

This will include the sequence of steps for policy decisions, infrastructure improvements, financing tools and development review. The plan framework will establish regulations, standards, and guidelines that are clear and explicit. The plan framework should help provide certainty and clarity to the community regarding desired land use intensities, locations, and applicable standards necessary for development.

*Please note the City and County Elected Officials have agreed to consider removing Tier 3 from the inter-governmental agreement in the Grandview area, if a sub-area plan successfully establishes clear development standards and sets forth a fair and equitable development review process for these properties.
