La Plata County’s Weed Management Office has moved to the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. from its previous location in the Community Development Services building at 211 Rockpoint Drive in the Durango Tech Center. The weed office shares space with the Colorado State University Extension Office in the Fairgrounds, providing residents convenient access to agricultural resources in one location.

The Weed Management Office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with staff available to consult on how to identify and treat noxious or invasive weeds on your property.  There are many weed management resources available on the office’s web site, www.laplataweeds.org.

The office, in partnership with the  La Plata Conservation District, also offers a cost-share program to assist residents, homeowners associations and ditch companies in treating noxious weeds. To find out more about this program, stop by the Weed Management Office, visit www.laplataweeds.org or contact Ben Bain, La Plata County’s weed control coordinator, at (970) 382-6470.
