Energy efficient lighting earns county rebate from LPEA

La Plata County is committed to using all resources wisely, from taxpayer dollars to our stellar employees’ talent, to the energy that fuels the buildings where we provide services to our citizens. Working with our partners at La Plata Electric Association, the county has received nearly $10,000 in rebates for installing LED lights in the County Administration Building when it was remodeled in 2015 and on the first floor of the La Plata County Courthouse during the remodel completed in February.

Through LPEA’s commercial lighting retrofit project, the county consulted with the utility on the most efficient fixtures to install. For the Courthouse remodel, LPEA estimates that by investing in LED lights, the county will reduce its electricity demand by nearly 17 kilowatts per month. The county received a $5,299 rebate for the investment.

La Plata County is continually looking for ways to save resources, and this partnership with La Plata Electric Association pays double dividends: it saves money and energy!
